Samaritan relief work after Nepal earthquake

Following the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on 25th April, several Samaritan organisations immediately prepared to render aid in the affected region.

Aid workers from SAM.I. members ASB and DKFH are already on the ground in Nepal to assess the situation and prepare possible operations to provide emergency medical aid, emergency shelters and drinking water purification.

Additional member organisations, including ANPAS, ASBÖ, ASCR, and ASSR have alerted their teams of aid workers and are ready to deploy following the completion of assessments by their respective national authorities or international aid mechanisms into which they are integrated. The Austrian Samaritans are also in the process of sending a shipment of basic aid materials. Other SAM.I. members have already offered their support to those members with standing emergency teams.

If the SAM.I. members’ teams, are deployed, they will support each other by coordinating their aid efforts and optimising the impact of their activities.
