The Advisory Committee of Samaritan International has appointed Reinhard Hundsmüller, Federal Secretary of Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Österreichs (ASBÖ), as an Honorary Member of the organisation. The decision was taken unanimously at the Advisory Committee’s meeting on 24 July 2026 and honours his many years of service to the Samaritan network, as well as his lasting contribution to international cooperation between the member organisations. The occasion for this honour was Reinhard Hundsmüller’s departure from the Presidium, coinciding with his move to the network’s Advisory Committee.
Reinhard Hundsmüller served for many years as Vice President of Samaritan International, representing ASBÖ in the Presidium, and played a central role in shaping the network’s European and international work. Throughout his term of office, he consistently championed close cooperation between the member organisations, promoting joint projects and goals as well as cross-border exchange.
With his appointment as Honorary Member, Reinhard Hundsmüller joins a distinguished circle of individuals who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to Samaritan International. He is welcomed into this circle alongside Fritz Tepperwien, Wilhelm Müller and Friedhelm Bartels (all ASB Germany), Erich Holaubek (ASB Austria), and Yannick Leblois (Fédération des Secouristes Français).
Knut Fleckenstein, President of Samaritan International:
“Reinhard Hundsmüller has shaped Samaritan International like few others. Over many years, Reinhard brought extraordinary commitment, foresight and tireless dedication to our network as Vice President. Reinhard not only played a decisive role in shaping our work, but also inspired countless people.”
Dr. Ivo Bonamico, Secretary General of Samaritan International:
“You could always rely on Reinhard — in the Presidium, in joint projects, and in shared initiatives. His work has always been guided by humanity, solidarity and a strong sense of responsibility. He is a role model for all of us when it comes to building bridges and living our shared values. We thank him for his dedication and look forward to continuing to work with him on the Advisory Committee.”
