Junior First Responder is a continuing modular programme implemented by the ASB RV Bad Windsheim qualifying young people to act as „social multipliers“ and providing them with special skills mainly in the area of first aid and medical service but also in various other social competences. The concept has been developed in 2001 out of advanced first aid courses and the school medical service.
The project consists of modules which partly build on one another and can be attended depending on the personality and interests. All modules are carried out by a competent teaching team of the RV Bad Windsheim with a broad range of experience and knowledge.
The modules are taking place in classes or workshops designed for children and youths of different ages who wish to become first aiders, medical service helpers, multipliers or teaching assistants. Above all the Junior Trainer course offers young people from the age of 14 to get to know different working areas such as teaching and school medical service but also contributes to the exchange of experiences and provides the impetus for news projects in other areas.
The first aid training modules have been gradually complemented by other areas like treatment of the disabled, new media or conflict management.
Through the training in first aid and advanced medical measures the project aims to give young people an insight into social commitment and volunteering.
Mutual acceptance and recognition of individual skills, team work and expansion of competence are in the foreground.
The longer-term objective of the project is to contribute to the personal independence, competence and social responsibility of children and young people and thus creating favourable conditions in the educational process of children and young people.
